People usually look for a Mailchimp alternative for one of two reasons: the free plan no longer covers their list, or the monthly price has climbed as their list grew. Here are three established options.
Kit: if you mainly send a newsletter
Formerly ConvertKit, and built for writers and creators. Its free plan is reported to cover up to 10,000 subscribers with limited automation. Paid plans start higher than Mailchimp’s. See Mailchimp vs Kit.
Brevo: if you have a large list you email occasionally
Formerly Sendinblue. Brevo prices mainly by emails sent, not contacts stored, so a big list that hears from you once or twice a month can cost less. It also includes SMS and a basic CRM.
MailerLite: if you want something simpler and cheaper
A clean, low-cost tool with a straightforward editor, landing pages and automation. Often recommended for beginners.
When to stay with Mailchimp
If you rely on its store integrations, its templates or a specific connection to another tool, switching may cost you more in time than it saves in fees. Before moving, archive unsubscribed and inactive contacts: that alone can lower your bill.
Before you switch
- Export your contacts with their tags and consent records.
- List every automated email you have running, so you can rebuild them.
- Check that your signup forms and website integrations work with the new tool.
- Price the new tool at the list size you expect in a year.
Prices and free-plan limits change often. Confirm them on each vendor’s site; ours were last checked in October 2026.
